Championship Manager 97/98 (2011/2012 Season Data)

Championship Manager 97/98 edited with 2011/2012 season data. I use an iMac and DOSBox and it works fine for me as you can see. It will work on PC but you will probably have to use either DOSBox or Boxer (both free downloads) to get it to work on newer systems. 20000 players (the maximum allowed) have been edited for all 9 playable leagues in the game as well as team and management data. Over 600 new stadium background photos have been created in an attempt to make the game feel as fresh and modern as possible. The game engine is old and as a result is somewhat out of date - no real way around this but it adds a certain charm to it. This update isn't intended to convert new fans - it's for fans of the original who prefer the simplicity that the game offers over the incredibly attentive to detail game that it has now become in the guise of the 'Football Manger' and re-imagined 'Championship Manager' games. Personally I prefer 97/98 (as if that wasn't already obvious) but as ever, it's a game of opinions!

Great work. The football management games are getting really complicated which is cool but there is something to be said for a simple fun game. It is still the best version for me. A classic with twists and turns!

97-98 was definitely in my opinion the best game. Used to play a full season in a day

Thanks... gosh I missed it so much... I really love the older CM's, I don't like the GUIs and lots of things to manage (individual training and stuff, gosh) of the new Football Managers... Thanks for letting me know, that I could play this year FC PORTO on a CM 97/98 from DOSBOX... But I have a problem, the game works all fine, and all the teams are there and updated, but the background pic is always the same, yours change, I cant get to fix it...

You must have the patience of a particularly saintly saint to go through all of the data, I can imagine it's pretty rewarding by the end though. Does this version have cheat teams? I've only played 00/01 which had 3 English lower league teams who each had youngsters on their roster who would develop into Premier standard players. They were Guiseley, Lancaster Town and Alfreton if I remember rightly.
